WHAT YEAR DID YOU START CROSSFITTING? 2010

WHY DID YOU GET INTO CROSSFIT? I got into CrossFit because a couple friends started doing it.  They constantly bragged about how they were getting great results and were only spending an hour at the gym a day.  I was intrigued and had to find out more.  Personally I was spending hours at the gym everyday and was chronically bored with all the body building type weight lifting and “cardio” I had been doing for years.  The second I stepped into a “box” I was hooked.  It was fun, I was getting stronger, I felt fitter, I looked better than I ever had, I felt like I was an athlete again.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER? I became a trainer because I wanted to work with people in a way that truly made a difference and an impact in their lives.  Fitness has always been a big part of my life.  I loved working out and being active.  With CrossFit, I was an opportunity to help people realize their true potential.

 WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT? Burpees. (just kidding)  Snatches, I love to snatch.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL? Beer and Tacos.  But macros are life, so I don’t ever feel like I’m cheating.

 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY? Wolverine.  The dude is a savage, enough said.

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START CROSSFITTING? August 2010

WHY DID YOU GET INTO CROSSFIT? I was introduced to CrossFit by a coworker who knew I had been looking for something more engaging than just running everyday. I was a swimmer for the University of Arizona and had been looking to fill the competitive void since finishing my swimming career, and I knew after my first CrossFit class that this was something I could get into. This unparalleled sense of community, paired with the idea that intensity is all relative to each individual was something I knew fairly well from swimming.

Being involved in a sport that was an even mix of individual and team efforts and results was something engrained into my mind, so to be able to go back and channel that while still learning things that were completely new to me was exciting and challenging

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER? I was an elementary education major with a competitive nature and strong passion for fitness. Once I took my first CrossFit class I knew this was something I wanted to get involved with, and after about 6 months I decided to take my Level 1 course.

I wanted to give back and share my “life changing experience” with anyone I could, and I grew to find that coaching CrossFit was the best of both of my worlds, fitness and teaching, all wrapped into one. I could continue my education and growth as a coach, athlete and person, all while I helped guide people to find ways to live out their best possible lives. It didn’t matter the age group, I wanted to make an impact.

 WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT? Deadlift

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL? Donuts, 100%

 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY? I would honestly have to say my mom, and not because I’m trying to earn points with her. She is the epitome of a strong, kind and caring, level headed woman. I’ve watched my mom pour her heart and soul into over 3 decades of teaching, three decades of loving me and my dad unconditionally, helping any and everyone in need, and carry herself like a boss. She has the biggest heart, a strong sense of what’s right and what’s wrong, can read people from a mile away, and has never changed who she was for anyone or anything. She truly is a Wonder(ful) Woman, and I hope I turn out half as amazing as she is.

Juvi Gonzalez - Coach

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START CROSSFITTING? Fall of 2010

WHY DID YOU GET INTO CROSSFIT?  I began Crossfit because I could workout with my shirt off.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER? I began coaching because I truly love learning and teaching movement, building community and fostering fitness/wellness into lifestyle.

 WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT?  I love all movements but Thrusters and Pullups are my fave. 

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL? Hawaiian Pizza and Chinese food.

 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY? I really like Deadpool because he is funny, skilled in multiple martial arts and is willing to go up against anyone. He is like a mix of Spiderman, Wolverine, and  the Punisher.   He works alone, kinda, xman in training. D.P. is hip and cool and dances to the rhytm of this own tunes. He's a lover and a fighter willing work at maximum effort when needed. Plus its cool that he can pull himself together after being torn apart.
